A voxel co-op roguelite for up to four players on one screen. Each run takes you down through the acts of the rift, and after every fight you pick one of three upgrades for your hero.
For October there is an extra act: spider-webbed groves full of witches, skeletons and giant spiders. It turns up in your runs about twice as often as the other acts while the event is on.
At the bottom waits the Hollow Horseman, a rider with a burning jack-o'-lantern for a head. Beat him once and every hero on your account gets the Jack-o'-Lantern skin.

Couch co-op
Everyone plays on one screen. Plug in a gamepad and press A to join, even halfway through a run; a late player starts at the party's level. It plays fine solo too, with keyboard and mouse or a pad.
Three augments after every cleared room
Builds
Each hero has two builds you can swap between in camp. Augments only roll if they fit your current build, so a Pyromancer is offered burn and explosion upgrades rather than wolf upgrades.
Path augments go further and change what your skill or ultimate does. Some rooms skip the augment and offer a trade-off instead: a big upgrade with a drawback attached.
Acts and guardians
There are six acts, from overgrown ruins to the Emberforge and the Storm Spire. Each has its own enemies with their own way of fighting, and a guardian at the end. After a guardian you choose one of two gates, which decides the next act.
Endlessafter a win, keep looping with tougher enemies.
Trialsruns with enemy modifiers that unlock skins.
Omensdaily runs with a shared leaderboard.
DifficultyNormal, Hard or Brutal, picked before each descent.
The Verdant Warden
There is no inventory. Weapons are the only random drop: a better one equips itself, a worse one is melted down into embers. Guardians also drop relics, which are fixed weapons and rings you pick between at the forge back in camp. Embers carry over between runs and pay for permanent upgrades on the Lantern Tree.
The heroes
Every hero has a basic attack, a dash, a skill and an ultimate, and two builds that change how the skill and ultimate work. Four are free. The other four come with the full game.
Lanternborn
Vanguard Free
Sword and shield
A three-hit sword combo up close. Good first pick: sturdy enough to stand in a crowd.
Stormbreaker
Every third swing calls lightning. Thunder Leap jumps into a pack and stuns it.
Bulwark
Thorns and armour. Shield Charge stuns and gives you a ward; Aegis of Dawn makes a dome where allies take 60% less damage.
Lanternborn
Ranger Free
Bow
Fast arrows from range. Her dash gives a short burst of extra speed.
Volley
Every fourth shot splits into homing arrows. Fan of Arrows fires seven piercing arrows at once.
Beastcaller
Arrows mark targets for spirit wolves. At a full pack the skill makes them howl for +40% speed and damage.
Lanternborn
Arcanist Free
Staff
Arcane bolts at range and big area spells. Low health, so keep moving.
Pyromancer
Bolts set enemies burning. Fireball explodes on impact; Meteor drops three meteors and leaves burning ground.
Frostweaver
Five chill stacks freeze an enemy, and hitting a frozen enemy shatters it for heavy damage.
Lanternborn
Shadowblade Free
Twin daggers
The fastest basic attack of any hero, and very little health.
Venomfang
Hits stack poison. Fan of Knives throws a ring of twelve knives; Plague Cloud follows you around for six seconds.
Phantom
Dashing makes your next hit a guaranteed crit. Shadow Strike blinks behind a target, and its cooldown resets if the hit kills.
Lanternborn
Breaker Full game
Warhammer
The slowest swing in the game and the hardest hits.
Earthshaker
Slams send an aftershock. Fault Line stuns everything in a line; Cataclysm leaps in and shakes the ground three times.
Forgeheart
Swings set enemies on fire. Anvil Fall drops a red-hot anvil that leaves molten ground.
Lanternborn
Lancer Full game
Spear
A long-reach spear combo, good for keeping enemies at arm's length.
Skypiercer
Skyfall Javelin pierces a line and bursts where it lands. Dragoon Dive drops onto three enemies in a row.
Galedancer
Hits build Flow for faster attacks and movement. Cyclone spins and pulls enemies in.
Lanternborn
Lightkeeper Full game
Lantern crook
Throws lantern flares from range. The support hero, and the one to bring to a four-player game.
Dawnbringer
Every third flare heals nearby friends. Daybreak heals the whole party by 40% and lifts downed players near you.
Gloamcaller
Flares curse enemies so they take more damage. Lantern Hook drags a line of enemies to you and stuns them.
Lanternborn
Reaper Full game
Scythe
Wide scythe sweeps that hit everything around you.
Soulreaver
Each kill gives a soul worth +2% damage. Soul Harvest spends them to heal; Death's Toll finishes off enemies under 20% health.
Gravecaller
Kills can raise skeletons that fight for you. With a full crew, Raise Dead bursts them into bone shards.
The Hall of Heroes: step on a hero's rune to switch to them
Lantern Haven
The camp between runs. You walk around it with your hero: spend embers on the Lantern Tree, choose relics at the forge, test a build on the training dummies, fish in the pond or wander over the bridge to the farm.
The Tipsy Lantern has a bard, darts and arm-wrestling
How the game is sold
The free version is the whole game with four heroes: every act, Endless, Trials, Omens and local co-op. Breaker, Lancer, Lightkeeper and Reaper are a one-time $5 unlock, and your free progress carries straight over.
No ads, no microtransactions, no battle pass. The $5 is the only thing for sale.
Yes. The free version has four heroes and every act, mode and feature. The full game adds the other four heroes for a single $5 payment once the store opens. There are no ads and nothing else to buy.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play straight away and your progress saves in your browser. A free account keeps your progress in the cloud so you can play on any computer, and puts your name on the Omen leaderboards.
What do I need to play?
A computer with a recent version of Chrome or Edge. Keyboard and mouse is enough; Xbox, PlayStation and most other gamepads work too. Phones and tablets work with a Bluetooth controller: tap the screen once to start so the sound can turn on.
How does co-op work?
Co-op is local: everyone plays on the same screen. Plug in a gamepad and press A or Start to join. Up to four players can play at once.
Is there online multiplayer?
Not yet. For now you can play with friends far away through screen-sharing tools like Parsec.
My laptop gets hot or slow. What can I do?
Open Options and set Graphics to Low, or cap the frame rate. On most laptops the game already picks a lighter setting by itself.
Will it come to Steam?
That's the plan. The full game is coming to Steam later at the same price.
